I have loved Carroll Shelby's Chili Seasoning since it first introduced in a brown paper bag package. I love that it does not contain MSG and has only about 60% of the sodium of other seasoning mixes; just look where salt is listed on the ingredient list. They used to package the salt separate like the cayenne peeper you could add it to taste. I was a bit disappointed when they changed that. However, I was happy that they still kept the salt content relatively low. I do miss the colloquial directions that were on the brown paper bag. Those directions also told you just how many ways you could customize the recipe.
When people balk at the price, I point out that it seasons two pounds of meat, rather than one. Plus, you are paying for spices rather than salt.

This is one of my favorite chili kits. I have found that I go back to this one, again, and again. Although sometimes I don't need the Masa flour, and barely ever add the Cayenne. Although it's great to put as a stash, or if for whatever reason you want to spice it up. Even better with some bean mixtures, and topped with sour cream, cheese, and Fritos. Sometimes I will omit the water, and add diced tomatoes. No matter which way you make it, it's delicious, and comforting. Especially on rainy days. I have tried others, and continue to come back to this one. It's flavorful, without being overwhelming.

Shipped and delivered on time by Walmart which was convenient and easy to track the arrival time. The product itself was great. I have used Carroll Shelby's Chili Kit before. It makes excellent chili. If you don’t like your chili too spicy, just don’t add the cayenne pepper packet. My family likes it mild so I skip that packet, but add all the hot sauce I like to my own bowl. Just made some in the crockpot pot today and it was delicious. You can make your chili vegetarian by only adding beans and onions, or got con carne by adding in some fried ground meat (beef, turkey, etc.) This chili kit is the bomb.

This was gritty, chalky, and had zero seasoning that even resembled chili seasoning. The lack of flavor had me scrambling to find something to make it edible! Thank goodness I am fully stocked on seasoning and flavor boosters, or this would have gone done in history as the worst chili ever! Do yourself a favor and skip this "convience" and make your own chili seasoning or at least go with McCormick (requires less doctoring).
